The Situation
Meridian Manufacturing runs three production facilities, each historically managed with its own local planning spreadsheets and a shared but outdated ERP module used mainly for financial postings. Production planners at each site have no visibility into inventory or capacity at the other two facilities.
The Challenge
This leads to duplicated raw material orders in some months and unexpected shortages in others. Procurement decisions are made reactively, often triggered by a production line running low rather than by forward planning, and the company has no consolidated view of work-in-progress or finished goods inventory across the group — a gap that makes it difficult for leadership to plan confidently for larger orders.
The Approach
Given the operational risk of disrupting live production lines, the engagement begins with solution design and a pilot at the largest facility, covering demand planning, material requirements planning, procurement and production order management. The pilot runs for a defined period with close monitoring before results are jointly reviewed and the configuration refined.
The refined solution is then rolled out to the remaining facilities in a phased sequence, with each site going through structured user training and a hypercare period immediately following go-live.
The Solution
A combined Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management implementation gives the group a shared planning, procurement and production platform across all three facilities, while consolidating financial reporting into a single system.
The Impact
A programme of this kind typically gives planners across every facility a shared view of inventory, work-in-progress and procurement status — reducing duplicated raw material orders and improving the accuracy of production scheduling.
Leadership can expect a consolidated, real-time view of inventory and procurement performance across the group, supporting more confident decisions on larger customer orders and capacity planning.
